Here is a lunch with my dad at Kyo-ya in SF, still a reliable (if pricey) Japanese option.
ko-donburi special - tai donburi & katsu soba - $23
Each day they have a bento box and a ko-donburi special - basically 2 entrees served together that change daily. It's always pretty good. The tai (red snapper) donburi was nice... lots of different seaweed and other stuff mixed in there too. The soba was alright. The tonkatsu was tasty and noodles were not bad.
